Hi *|FNAME|*

Forum Law welcomed 2017 firing on all cylinders!

Annette Fontana, our Principal, presented a comprehensive paper on Personal Property Securities (PPS) Law to the Australian Accountants, Lawyers and Company Directors conference in Aspen, USA. Annette’s paper was entitled 'Personal Property Securities Law: a question of protection'. Read this paper here.

Forum Law has presented information and education sessions on Personal Property Securities Law since before the new legislation was introduced on 30 January 2012 and we continue to advise and assist our clients with defending their title to their assets, and from the other side of a transaction, in asserting title to assets as security for debts and other contractual obligations.

A decision of the NSW Court of Appeal in favour of a client of Forum Law has contributed to the understanding of when is a party to a contract entitled to terminate that contract, and in this case the facts involved a contract under the NSW Home Building Act. We review the case in this issue.

In the early months of 2017 Forum Law has continued to advise and assist clients in the areas of property acquisitions and sales, commercial and retail leasing, insolvency matters, building and construction disputes and contract preparation, disputes arising from deceased estates and we have been instructed, as always, in the undisputed processing of deceased estates. We have had a fast and furious start to the year!

We look forward to engaging with you in all things legal in 2017.
